Not as bad as most "beat generation" depictions which appeared in films of that era. Like soccer matches, film directors never made many convincing 'musical performance interpretations' where "60s pop" was concerned. My humble opinion, cos I sat (squirmed) through a few in those days!

@mlong3rdfl The film is fabulous, if you've not seen it...in fact: see all of Russ Meyer's films!

Love that film so much, forgot how great the soundtrack was. FYI, my first band was called The Kelly Affair, we didn't achieve much but this was back in 98 - 99, when all bands were one syllable words (Ash, Blur, Cast, etc) so having a "The" name was totally throwback and untrendy. A few years later and suddenly there's The's everywhere (The Strokes, The White Stripes, etc.) so it's wishful thinking but I'd like to think that if nothing else we were partly responsible for that trend.

Bizarrely our version of The Kelly Affair was like Orbital with some acoustic guitar licks, not very psychedelic sixties at all.

Roger Ebert co-wrote this film with Meyer!
