oh brilliant! love this! do you remember the bubble-skin jump suits? i still like to pretend i can 'jaunt' by holding onto a notional belt and standing rigid. it confuses the hell out of the younger staff.
@antonywaltjarv lol. I always wished I could ''jaunt'. The memories of the bubble-skin jump suits have stayed with me. I'm really glad I never put one of them on! I actually recently watched (partly, not all the way through) that episode and was rather dissappointed to see that the bubble aliens were just vibrating balloons....
i remember my brother and i nearly bursting our sides laughing at the BSJSs. And the crossover from the youth 'band' Flintlock always invoked a bit of hilarity. Do you know any Delia Derbyshire music? - She was part of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and mainly responsible for the Dr Who theme tune, though uncredited. She's a true electronica hero
incidentally, i always treasure the memory of the great peter cook being interviewed on a late night talk show, and answering the question 'do you liike to travel'?' with 'yes - i like to jaunt'
@antonywaltjarvThanks. I think I know the name.. I'll have to check out her music. I don't remember Flintlock - I'll have to investigate further. Those BSJSs really were horrible, but I think the idea of an alien taking you over through a piece of 'fashionable' clothing is a very interesting concept....I sense a re-make coming on .....they seem to be re-making everything else from the 70's these days...
@antonywaltjarv@philipnareike I'm loving this conversation though I don't know this program. "Jaunting" which is usually a "short journey made for pleasure", seems an unlikely weapon against these aliens, though clearly effective as they no longer seem to be a threat.
@kemiladashdot 'Jaunting' was the ability to move from one place to another, anywhere, instantly, through mind power alone, as far as I remember. The ability to 'jaunt' could only be performed by 'homosuperiors', who, as their name suggests, were special, and limited to a tiny percentage of the population. The Tomorrow People was ITVs sci-fi program, to compete with Dr Who in the 70s
The concept of "jaunting" is originally from Alfred Bester's great sci-fi novel The Stars My Destination (aka Tyger, Tyger) isn't it? I didn't know it had gained so much traction outside that book. Then again, maybe The Tomorrow People killed the term again. Shame, it's a much nicer word than "teleport".

The music really is great. I read that Dudley Simpson also did some music for Dr. Who

@thesunneversets Thanks for the info. I've not read that. You're right though, 'Jaunting' is so much more fun.

This is one of those jams where the "video" is as essential as the track. Good old stuff.
