@leejohnson This is such an early performance by them that they were yet to be named. Here they were inviting viewers to send in their name suggestions.
@leejohnson Yes,that was the winning suggestion. The prize for the winner was to go to the TOTP studio and go backstage to meet the presenters. Let's hope you know who wasn't their that week
Unknown to me, my TIMJ-follow for your excellent jams was inadvertently discontinued. I have now rectified that oversight! On the subject of the TOTP presenter, I indeed dread the thought that it could have been the unmentionable one...
@dutchzaphod@philipnareike As you could hear from the spoken intro, it was that stalwart of Radio Caroline, Radio One, Radio Two, and the Jungle, Tony Blackburn.
What I want to know is: was there ever a TOTP episode where 'the Fixer' was the presenter, and two of the acts that week were Jonathan King and Gary Glitter? If so, would the abused please step forward...
@leejohnson@dutchzaphod As I mentioned on my last jam, the unmentionable one presented TOTP for the entire span of the show,co-hosting the first, in 1964, and the last, in 2006. It really is incredible it was allowed to happen. I have a friend who worked at the BBC in the 70s and she's told me she knew a driver who worked for TOTP, whose main job was to go out searching for young girls and then inviting them to be in the audience at the TOTP shows..and it's only just come out what was going on
