@lindatee Yes, I think you are missing out...the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Fat Freddy's Cat are wonderful. I've got all the comics somewhere....Gilbert Shelton is a great cartoonist...you should check them out!
@lindatee To conquer my fears I once let someone's pet tarantula be placed in my hand...and it started to slowly crawl up my arm.....I was under the influence at the time....don't think I could do it sober
@philipnareike Yeah it comes with a bit of a fictitious backstory that it was created in 1912 and 100 years later it found its way onto the internet as the LOLcat meme. So it's full of those early 20th century allusions...
@jackthestripper Haha...now you're just trying to scare me...that's plainly ridiculous! .... ......''bleeuuuugghhhh!!!.......oh my God! it's still alive!
@BladeRunner@Avante ...I know.....to be played with..... eaten.......regurgitated......and then squashed.....what a life! Spiders are very resilient creatures....
The Simon's Cat videos are always excellent. As for spiders... well, I'm a (slowly) recovering arachnophobe. Still don't like 'em, but no longer paralyzed by fear when I spot one in the house. Great Jam!
@MsSue_ This time of year.....also...There's been a lot in the news recently about those big poisonous ones that have been coming to the UK. Didn't one come in a box of bananas and then escaped.. I'm getting jittery now...
@MadameZia I couldn't find my copy of !01 Uses...but I did find 2 other books by the same Simon Bond called 'Unspeakable Acts' and 'Odd Visions and Bizarre Sights' .I've also got a book called 101 Use For a John Major, along a similar vein...I think my Mum gave me that one....
@MsSue_ Eek! did they come indoors? Scorpions or other creepy stuff doesn't bother me ...just spiders. I read that Christopher Lee suffers fropm arachnophobia....who'd 've thought it.
@MsSue_ Phobias are strange things. Unexplicable and odd. I once tried to get my cat to play with a balloon and she totally freaked out...scared witless. So you've not seen that old French film, The Red Balloon? It's a favourite of mine. The boy in that film loves his balloon....it is a great film though...but definately not your cup of tea...or maybe you should watch it to help you overcome your fears
@philipnareike A bit worried about the aversion therapy thing. I'll tell you what, Philip. You watch Arachnaphobia and I'll watch The Red Balloon. Deal? :)
@MsSue_ I've already seen Arachnophobia...I saw it at the cinema when it came out...I had to...see I've been trying to deal with my phobia for years. Well I've always had a thing for horror films from an early age ......Here's the link to The Red Balloon (1956) ...if you dare...... http://youtu.be/e2Y1tRBOXfA .....it's about 1/2 hour long :) Let me know if you manage to ....it was funny the other day I saw a red balloon float away from a child's grasp and float high high into the air...

jackietheripper
They say you swallow several dozen spiders in your sleep over the course of your lifetime. They also crawl in your frickin' ears. Sweet dreams.
philipnareike
@MadameZia Yes, I got it too....teeheehee...

Bit of a strange effect when you're not watching but listening to the jam feed on headphones, and this jam comes on...
UncannyUK
Nice Louis Wain backdrop too.
philipnareike
@thisismymistake Hahaha..I just listened to the soundtrack on headphones without the visuals...isn't it like something Pink Floyd did on Ummagumma?
philipnareike
@UncannyUK I really love Louis Wain's work. His obsession with cats and his artistic style changes throughout his mental illness is remarkable http://www.samwoolfe.com/2013/08/louis-wains-art-before-and-after.html
MsSue
I have to admit to feelng a bit tickly watching that!
philipnareike
@MsSue_ Don't look over your shoulder....there's a big black sone taring at you about to jump!

@philipnareike It's funny, I'm only just starting to get a bit shivery about them. I wonder why that is?

Love this cartoon, my absolute favorite

@philipnareike I read somewhere Pink Floyd were influenced by spider-chasing cats when they recorded it...
MsSue
@philipnareike We had brown recluse spiders (and scorpions) in Texas, and I wasn't too bothered about them
philipnareike
@MsSue_ Eek! did they come indoors? Scorpions or other creepy stuff doesn't bother me ...just spiders. I read that Christopher Lee suffers fropm arachnophobia....who'd 've thought it.
philipnareike
@thisismymistake So much great art has been influenced by the cat...
MsSue
@philipnareike I do sympathize, Philip. My phobia is balloons!!!
philipnareike
@MsSue_ Balloons! Seriously?
MsSue
@philipnareike Yes.Worse when half deflated and bobbing around in a forlorn state. I've no idea why...

...and it reminded me of the film....I actually nearly crashed my car watching it....
MsSue
@philipnareike Philip, I accept your challenge! GIve me a week and I'll report back. (I'm shuddering already, but I'll do it.)
MsSue
Don't crash! Driving is a near phobia with me!
philipnareike
@MsSue_ Please let me know.I want to know what you think...and whether it helps you :)
philipnareike
@MsSue_ It's a bit schmaltzy actually, as far as I can remember....and strange too...
