@decarter innit?!! people usually don't believe it, but, if I've actually heard MyWay before, I wasn't old enough to acknowledge it, and I started listening to Nina Hagen at 11/12 years old, so it was one thing leading to another, hahaha!
@BladeRunner being French, I cannot not know My Way, though it is in its original version Comme d'Habitude by our diminutive blond hit maker of the 60s-70s, Claude François (who spent most of his career churning out covers of Motown / Stax hits). :-D
@JohnRoux oh, in this case it's even better! I know a bit of Cloclo story! I grew up used to some bizarre cover versions (I'm from Brazil), so it's gets even funny to discover 'original versions' (mind you, our versions are hilarious funny)
@JohnRoux ahhh but you're mentioning the beautiful songs :) I was talking about the funny and bizarre stuff (something like an Abba song version, in portuguese, with a paraguayan singer, in the mid 70's) hahaha!!!
@philipnareike ok, now, PROMISE me you won't go searching for more, I'd really like to guide you through on this one - cause it's precious weird stuff for me! I really hope you can see the video... Now, promise.
@philipnareike This is Perla (Pearl in spanish) singing Abba's Chiquitita, her vocal vibrato and very long hair were kind of a trademark. She re-wrote all the lyrics, where she sings about a child being as free as a seagull, and a little girl (Pequenina), who's learning to count, has little bows in her hair, always holding a doll - another song alltogether! also, Perla has a very strong spanish accent that makes it even funnier (i always sing it w/accent) http://youtu.be/2j-NOz8CVfE
@philipnareike I must add something: Perla was always an extremely nice person, a gorgeous woman and, as a kid, I always wanted to have that magnificent hair!!! So, I'm not making fun of her (never, she was a diva!) but, of her brazilian version of songs, which were hilarious.
@BladeRunner oppos...I got busy ...Okay I promise...really I do! Perla is great and I like the idea of changing the lyrics and the name of the original song...It will always be Pequenina to me now! ....may I have some more ....mmm...nice hair too!
@philipnareike@MadameZia from what I can recall Spirit in the Sky never even grasped hit status Brazil, it took me years to be able to listen to the original (thanks YT), I'm finding funny the covers, but Nina's ends up being "the one"for me.
About the "Perla versions", there's one in particular that will be special for @MadameZia - I wish I could have a caption enclosed with the translation of her lyrics - but I'll manage something!!!
@philipnareike I'm happy the link worked!!! Oh, as a little girl I was always enchanted by long beautiful hair, always wanted it... girlie stuff.... Anyway, yep, I'm working on your Brega fix!!! hahahaha
