I remember this episode too! Back in the days when 'Enders was entertaining. I'm just going to check how old it is as everyone looks relatively young. As an aside I'm surprised Babs managed to keep her wig on during that little cat fight
I used to live in Mile End right under the second capital E in the title sequence. It blocked out the sun which was a bloody nuisance so we moved out in the end.
@MadameZia I know who Pokerface is. He's Jess's pet British bulldog. I know because I named him Pokerface and it stuck.. see, he enjoys a game of poker and is very good at it...ain't that right @BladeRunner But which was his favourite Eastenders character? Little Willy? or maybe Wellard?
WTAF @philipnareike? You are that influential that you get to name pets for people on here? OMG! Anyway I always used to think EE was biased as it always featured dogs never cats
@MadameZia can you believe this? and the worst: it's all true! About his favourite charachter, I'll have to ask him, @philipnareike... I can only recognize the blond lady with short hair, and I don't even know her name! He also used to watch Byker Grove - but then, only Pokerface could understand the dialogues... you know, he's is the British one...!
@MadameZia the main reason of Pokerface's confusion, besides the whole mother issue is: who's the bitch and who's the cow? Ah! (And he also likes to watch Downtown Abbey, I've pictures of him looking at the tv!)
@BladeRunner The blond one with short hair - that's Pat Butcher, she's the one that can't keep her hands off Mark's dog Dexter. The other one (Peggy) Barbara Windsor was really famous in the 1960s and 1970s for being in The 'Carry On' comedy films and was friends with gangsters when she was younger (allegedly)
Byker Grove!! I can't say I watched it but the 2 boys in it are now 2 of the most famous people in Britain
@philipnareike@MadameZia yeah! Byker Grove, is kids stuff!!! (I didn't even bother trying to understand them talking) Ohhh now I understood the Dexter comment! Oh my, I'm laughing out loud, reading this!! Loving it!!! Ok, I'll tell it all to Pokerface... I think he'll probably be more fond of Pat! (the thing is he really payed attention to EE's intro music)
@BladeRunner Pat (Pam St. Clement) is the big dog lover - she'd be all over Pokerface! Well, even I can't understand the Geordie accent.
@MadameZia A BeeGee!! Well I never!
@MadameZia huahauhauha, OMG, I wish I knew the equivalent expressions in english of what we say in Brazil for that... gangsters, a BeeGee, no wonder Pat's calling her a bitch! huahauhauah!!!
@philipnareike probably, he's a magnet actually, if someone on the street starts saying "aaaaaawwwnnnnnn" he immediately stares at the person, like "ok, I know you're talking to me..."
@MadameZia Oh my...you didn't take much persuading! There's honestly not many soaps I've ever watched, but I'd love to hear about soaps from exotic lands.....Eh? @BladeRunner ...purely from an intellectual point of view of course...
@MadameZia@philipnareike I take Pokerface for a walk and arrive in a #SoapWeek already being planned?! And OMG what is this video, huahuhuahua, the hair - and she's doing the gym in a bikini??? Did you really closed you eyes Phil??? I gotta see what this woman looks like today!
@philipnareike@MadameZia I think I might be able to colaborate with something on your #SoapWeek and indulge Phil's curiosity of exotic lands tv soaps! Brazil is famous for exporting tvsoaps allover the world (such pride... =P)
@BladeRunnerhttp://youtu.be/7-W6bW_ISMk But she's Peggy Mitchell !!
I'm hoping to learn about some Soapy Brazilian Exotica ....our Eastenders as you can see, is far from exotic
@BladeRunner The 'Carry On ' films were Britain's most famous movies (along with Hammer Horror) in the 60s and 70s, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carry_On_%28film_series%29
and Barbara Windsor was one of the stars in the later ones. Many of the actors in them were amongst the most famous British actors of the time
@philipnareike oh, I understood she's Peggy! I was just curious to look at her face nowadays! I was laughing again with this EE video, she's quite a bitch, really! And what about Pat's tattoed eyebrows?! I'll check this carry on movies, I didn't knew about it! (only knew the posters, hahaha)
@BladeRunner They were on TV all the time when I was a kid so I've probably seen them all many times over. My favourite was always Carry On Screaming!!
@philipnareike about our soaps, there's one main difference - actually in most latin soaps. They usually last for 6 or 7 months, instead of years, with all kinds of themes and locations - period dramas, city life - Rio & SP mainly, Northeast region... being a country so large, every region have so many peculiarities, it's almost a little universe on it's own, comedy, drama... it's huge business...
@BladeRunner That's good they don't last too long. Ours go on..and on...and on...and on...etc..and like you say, ours are always rooted in the present and mundane.
We have lots of period or crime dramas but they tend to be short series made every year, so not really classed as a soap.
@philipnareike yep, for us, this concept of lasting years it's very unusual... but it still doesn't mean it's good stuff... sometimes a good thing comes along, but there's a lot of crap! Let's see what I can do...

Good grief it's from around 1998!

Pat Butcher uses the same fishmongers as me. When I saw her there recently she couldn't resist stroking my Dexter.

@Astromonkey Good Lord!! What's a Dexter!??
alisonsghost
@philipnareike Nothing like a bit of goga in the morning...Yes, what is a Dexter?
Astromonkey

While in Lux, Pokerface usually watched to Eastenders on Saturday mornings, while I was out grocery shopping... I must say, he's a bit disturbed now!
MadameZia
Ok so now I'm asking @BladeRunner - who is Pokerface? Understandably he is now disturbed "You are not my Mother!" "Yes I am!"
