Spot the stereotypes (from almost any cop show of the time):
"Anal boss" - Gordon Jackson
"Curly-haired Tough-But-Sensitive Hero" - Martin Shaw
"Straight-haired Tough-And-Sexy Hero" - Lewis Collins
Compare it to "Starsky and Hutch":
"Anal boss" - Bernie Hamilton
"Curly-haired Tough-But-Sensitive Hero" - Paul-Michael Glaser
"Straight-haired Tough-And-Sexy Hero" - David Soul
See? ;)
@philipnareike@SheRa I've came to a conclusion: While in Brazil we're SoapieMasters, we've never even nearly done cops series AND their openings to the UK and US level of expertise - you guys have mastered it!!!
@leejohnson Yes, yes your formula works for Miami Vice and many other shows as well. Don't get me started on the trade mark jumps through a window and sports car that flies through the air!
@philipnareike through the window?much more efficient...no glass in your hair, no cuts and the car can take out a few baddies ....(Not that any Americans even get a hair out of place when jumping through a window, off a cliff etc)
@SheRa@BladeRunner Thanks for your kind comment. I suppose we are CrimeMasters! Got to say I'm having a whale of a time with all these #CopJams around. And there's still more to come!
@philipnareike not worried at all dear I am enjoying myself as well and I will be sad to see it go...maybe not next week but probably in a bit I may start #toonjams so we can relive our childhood for a while....how's that sound??
@SheRa Hmmm...toonjams sounds cool...I'll have to start thinking about that one. That should be great to get to know what we all watched and enjoyed as kids. ...there's some classic cartoons from way back when...good idea
@SheRa@philipnareike I have to disagree in one thing: you guys would be the FightCrimeMasters... whilst CrimeMasters, I'm afraid we're way up on that list (and maybe it's another reason why we're so lame on Cops Series), but then I'd be talking politics, and thats definitely not the point!!!
@BladeRunner You're right! We're the good guys! MasterCrime Fighters!
And you're the SoapieCrimeMasters.....always in a nice clean shirt when you blast someone's head off...are there no good Brazilian Cop series? Really?
@philipnareike hehehe THIS! Well, actually there aren't... we do have some movies that were very good (and I could not find the song I wanted to be jammed) - but it's always this balance between good and evil (we have an extreme corrupt police here, so if you put cops playing goodygoody guys it's not credible). On toons... hummm I might find something.... (we do have one that I loved as a child, but I gotta check...) =)
@BladeRunner So it's Bad Cop, Bad Cop in Brazil......I get the picture....Well, not all our cops are good either....we've got a few bad 'uns too....though not quite in your league, as you've said..
@philipnareike I assume this is not the most interesting subject to talk about (and I certainly don't wanna bother my friends here with it) but just to give you one number that shocked me last week: statistically 90% of crimes in the UK are solved, 65% in the US... this number is an appaling 8% in Brazil. So... we're good at making it! hahaha!!!
@BladeRunner It is an interesting subject considering the size of the US 65% is not too terrible but I'm guessing the size of the country may contribute to that % as well?? Maybe the crime rate in Brazil is low?? Perhaps the criminals are also very smart...we have badies that are just DUMB, which is good for the cops. there are TV shows that highlight the stupidity of some folks in America..here is a slice of our criminal "masterminds":http://americasdumbestcriminals.com/....https://www.youtube.
@SheRa ohhh I could only wish our crime rate was low... it's not, it's increasing... (and becoming barbaric). But it surely has to do also with the size of our countries (if compared with the uk). The thing is Brazil's still a poor country, traffic is a serious problem. I think we have a combination of very smart and powerful crime lords, that intimidate the good guys and coopt the corrupt ones and impunity (explained w/ the 8%) is the best fuel. BUT I'm LOL w/the video, it's hilarious! =D
@BladeRunner Woh...It would be interesting to see the wealth distribution in Brazil and with the Olympics coming money is being spent onthe "illusion" but the poor?...well that is a discussion for another time......those stats are everywhere now and there is an extremely small percentage of folks in the US that control most of the $$$...Glad you enjoyed the criminal "Masterminds" from the US.....
@BladeRunner 90% of RECORDED crimes in the UK. Now - if they start actually RECORDING all the crimes which are reported to them (e.g. the lads who set fire to a public waste bin, but who get away with it because police deem it unsolveable and so do not put it on the computer - there's only one way to combat this in the UK. If you are reporting a crime as a member of the public, ALWAYS ASK FOR A CRIME NUMBER. They MUST quote it to you, therefore they MUST put it on computer. Accountability). :/

@SheRa See...we don't just jump through windows over here...we drive our cars through them!

@philipnareike Great theme but the titles now look like a comedy short
philipnareike
Here's the full theme with some action clips from the show: http://youtu.be/neIR8UN1Iac

@duncehat TBH, beg to differ - everything about this is actually "iconic" (over-used cliché alert!). Anyway, it beats the tired-looking, sanitised digital titles we get today (and ESPECIALLY ITV IN THE UK - YUK!)

@leejohnson Don't get me wrong, I like it, but it's funny none-the-less
