There was a very good edition of Radio 4's Soul Music about this: playable at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03m79cq . The original lyrics were much darker: Have yourself a merry little christmas, it may be your last...
She missed all the fun in the Piñatas! I soooo agree with @Astromonkey !!! (and already started saying 'No wire hangers eeeevaaaahhh!!!' )

@MadameZia American kids all play baseball from an early age..isn't that right? I know what you mean....the heads went flying..
