Hi Philip! Thank you for share your family story. I'm about to receive my degree in History and I find the oral sources truly interesting (including yours). I never went to Germany, but I have a friend who is from there. He has taught me some German, but just a few words and phrases. I can get a sense of why your father did not teach you to speak German. Those times were difficult. Near where I live there is a colony of Volga Germans. Really interested in their culture...
Regarding the game, Germany has a great team. An opponent to fear... Hoping for a good and clean game, too :)

@florencevibert Unlucky ...a close game Argentina had more chances but just couldn't do it. Did brilliantly well defending...not Messi's night. C'est la vie....Yes, Brighton....famous for it's Royal Pavillion and Pier....can get quite busy at weekends....:)
