It was Tove Jansson's birth centenary in August. Many thanks for this jam. I'm not neighbours with the Moomins, no... the Moominworld theme park is located about 300 kilometres from where I live.
I was about to say that the Moomins drove me mad as a kid with their "whistling" but I now realise that that was the "Clangers" ( How did I get them confused?)

@shme Yes, I knew it was Tove Jansson's Centenary....they are wonderful books and characters. I unfortunately never knew them when I was a child but have enjoyed them immensely as an adult :)
@Avante I never knew them as a kid.....I can kind of see them being a bit frightening for a youngster even though they are pleasant characters....(well, mostly)
@BladeRunner The Moomin comic strips are very well written and drawn. I noticed there's a new film out called Moomins on the Riviera ...it looks a bit awful in my opinion, and seems to be at odds with the otherworldliness of the original stories...those voices just don't seem to suit the characters at all!! http://youtu.be/8ie8lqrOe_4
