What I found with "Zinc Alloy" (an obvious rip-off of the "Ziggy Stardust" character!) was a head-full of new lyrics and stories, but he's run out of tunes and mainly used recycled chords, the difference being mostly in the production techniques - which I was never really happy with either. A bit of a duff album becauses of all those things, unfortunately. IMO.
@kemiladashdot The inspiration for that cat called Ray ~ Voodo Ray is entirely yours....thanks...I think he's your cat's half-brother...he used to belong to Psycho~Frank but escaped...he now roams the streets freaking people out....
@leejohnson I've only just been listening to this album recently...there's a few great tracks on it, Teenage Dream I really like, but I know what you mean....there's certainly a bit of a funkier element to it.
@philipnareike Our "points of reference" will no doubt be very different. As someone who followed Marc from his underground days, around the time of "By The Light Of The Magical Moon", "Zinc" was pretty much a sell-out (it was for my mate John, who was as fanatical about Bolan as I am about Bowie! He ditched Bolan much like I did Bowie when David killed off Ziggy) in terms of simplicity and lack of complication. Over-produced, by comparison. Both John and I can now appreciate them in retrospect.

Yeh, I'm the same, Phil. TRying not to post the 'obvious' favourites in my ABCs. That's just lazy & 'other' choices makes it more interesting...)

Everybody does Bowie (hark at me!). Marc deserves a little Jamtime too.

There's something strangely familiar about that cat.
