My favourite song off my favourite REM album #Isawthemlive in 88 on the Green tour and then in 03 at T in the Park. U2 not fit to lick the mud off their boots, so what do their fans know.

I love now that you can find the setlist to your old gigs. 26 songs in 88 (26!) http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rem/1989/edinburgh-playhouse-edinburgh-scotland-4bd68fea.html (though now I see it was 89 not 88)

@simonp Opening for U2 in front of 50,000 people. From the book Remarks - The Story of R.E.M. by Tony Fletcher (pg.82), "The 50,000-strong crowd was in no mood for a band opening a set with as downbeat a song as 'Feeling Gravitys Pull', and the group spent the entire set dodging missiles, the most common of which were plastic bottles full of urine" I remembered right ..

@philipnareike ha! Yes I can well imagine that track going down brilliantly with a lagered-up crowd waiting to hear Pride...

#ISawThemLive with U2 in Dublin (same tour) and most of us walked away thinking they were the better band.

One of my favorite R.E.M. tracks. #isawthemlive in college at University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1984ish (the Reconstruction of the Fables/Fables of the Reconstruciton tour)

@paulgdaly The Dublin fans were a bit more sensible than the Milton Keynes ones then...they were largely ignored or had missiles lobbed at them when I saw them
