I remember the cats that lived at the Scala! I nearly had kittens when one jumped on the back of my chair during a midnight screening of Sid And Nancy.
@pez Ha! I think there were three of them, ...they'd always brush up against your legs...I was very sad when it was closed down...and all because of Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange
@philipnareike I heard about that, all down to Kubrick apparently ... always sad when a fleapit of real character closes its doors, I felt the same about Camden Parkway
@pez Yes, the showing of A Clockwork Orange was illegal as the ban was still in place then by Kubrick..... who sued the cinema...they had a 'Save the Scala' campaign but it wasn't enough ...I have great memories of all the times I went there ...it was incredible really...3 differhttp://ent films on every day and all the special events/festivals. Did you know before that guise of the Scala opened it was a 'Primatorium' : www.arthurlloyd.co.uk/ScalaKingsCross.htm
