if it wasn't for TIMJ i'd never have heard of James Last, and that would have been a loss - i mean it! I remember the 1st time i saw Starparade here!!!!
@BladeRunner Awesome! :) Here in Germany it's basically impossible not to grow up with him. He was ubiquitous. He just gave his farewell tour a few weeks ago. R.I.P.
@thisismymistake what we're used to here was Ray Conniff... (i even saw him one day walking on the street in my hometown, the year before he died i guess), James Last was way groovier it seems to me ;)
don't forget the goat,,theres some thing about goat that gets me all a tingle,,,looking forward to jamaican week, as every that gets played i will like,,,,did i mention the goat
I always remember James Last 'Ole' (his contribution to the bringing Spanish music to the masses) being one of my Mum's first cassettes. OK it was terrible, but memorable!
amazing how much attention this is getting here,,, i did not realise how many records he sold, how many fans he had,,,,,now I'm reading he was a ''swinger'' ,,,,@BladeRunner

@kingofmen i did! but it was mostly because of his wig...

@BladeRunner he was a pretty accomplished jazzer before the lure of the swingers' parties got a hold of him. maybe that explains the killer groove...

@leslieplatt59 I love the fact that he once released seven albums in a single year!

@Avante Dads too...my Dad was a fan

@simonp An object lesson to today's young slackers who somehow think it's cool to take 3 years between a debut album and a follow up.
