The idea was Appalachia + Africa + something called "hip hop" (it was 1982), envisioned by the guy who put together the Sex Pistols and made musical by Trevor Horn and a pair of NYC radio DJs who called themselves the World Famous Supreme Team. And this is what they came up with.
