Michael William Burt was born on August 23rd 1938 in Redhill, Surrey, England. He had a very short tenure as drummer of 'The Crescents' in November 1961, and then, along with pianist/vocalist Chas Hodges and bass player Dave Peacock, became a member of the 1960s rhythm and blues group 'Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers', again on drums.
Although at one time managed by Brian Epstein, they never found true popularity, and eventually disbanded. Hodges and Burt joined 'The Roy Young Band' in 1969, with Roy Young on organ and vocals, though this group quickly disintegrated. Peacock, Hodges and Burt formed 'Black Claw' the following year, with Harvey Hinsley.
Burt teamed up yet again with Hodges and Peacock in the mid-1970s, as 'Chas & Dave', and played on the band's records for many years, including their debut album from 1975 - they even wrote a song for him, entitled "Give It Some Stick Mick". In 2009, Burt retired from the band, with Chas's son, Nik Hodges, taking over on drums. Mick Burt died in England from Parkinson's disease and dementia on October 18th 2014, aged 76. http://www.hollywood.com/news/brief/57851420/chas-dave-s-drummer-dies
