We were both saddened to hear of the passing of Cynthia Lennon, who was John's first wife, before and during the early, crazy Beatlemania days. Cynthia was a talented young artist and met John at Art College. She was once asked if Lennon had written any songs about their time together, and answered, “It was too sloppy when you were young to dedicate anything to anybody. Macho Northern men didn’t do that in those days”. When asked about what might have been she said, “If John hadn’t been famous, I would probably have been a teacher going out to work and he would probably have been busking. I don’t know. It was just one of those moments – the right place, the right time.”
This is the poignant tribute their son Julian posted to his web site yesterday.
