Third of what will be four Father's Day jams- I was introduced to Tom Waits around 1994 when my then boss put Bone Machine on the kitchen's cd player. Dad wasn't against Mr. Waits or anything, but he didn't quite fathom why I was buying up his whole discography.
Then about 6 or 7 years ago, some crime drama or another (forgive me, I am rather unknowledgeable about the majority of the last 12 years of TV) played this tune over what must have been an effectively emotional closing montage, and from then a selection of homemade Waits compilations resided in the work truck.
