@PaulGroom Never been but loved The Prisoner when Channel 4 first repeated it in the mid-80s. Rover bounding along the beach after No.6 still haunts me.
Splendid song showcasing Andy Partridge's trademark metaphysical lyrics. A young Stephen Fry as Number 2 is another bonus of this The Tube special. Top post!
@simonp Would love to see this video, think I missed it first time around. The old iconic Tyne Tees studio entrance at the start of the clip together with the pub opposite are long long though sadly.
@jsf1982 Great back catalogue. Quirky, intelligent pop. Very earwormy. You can't go wrong with Skylarking, English Settlement or Black Sea. Their later stuff goes even more off kilter. Enjoy!

Also, nice touch doing the film in Portmeirion, I went there on a school trip when I was a teenager.

@UncannyUK wow, that's right. I'd forgotten all about that. According to Amazon, the whole special is to be released on DVD at the end of the year. Meanwhile, here's a snippet of the start, with Jools Holland and Hugh Laurie http://theroadracer.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/jools-holland-is-the-laughing-prisoner/

@simonp @PaulGroom I had a landlady who talked very fondly of Portmeirion when I was a student...
simonp
@AlicejustMay maybe she was No.1
