'Little info could be found about the man, though the reports varied wildly: he studied cinematography in Russia, he self-financed his own movie, he was a titan of industry in his native Nigeria with a flour mill, he had business interests in Sweden.' http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/18732-william-onyeabor-who-is-william-onyeabor/

Over the years I've heard a few different things by this guy, all excellent. This is no exception. Great jam!

@simonp He sounds a bit dodgy, frankly.

@simonp He gets a like for his song. The synths hurt a bit. Pitchfork seemed to love him.

This is great, the record has been getting a fair bit of publicity but this is the first thing I've heard from it.

Had to have a second listen, couldn't get it out of my head! It's pretty epic if you listen to all of it which I didn't the first time.

@stereoGrover @kemiladashdot @leslieplatt59 @alisonsghost @Brownpants glad you all like it as much as I do. Until today, I'd never heard of him. But he's now a current favourite. I love the way that this sounds like a 1970s version of the future, with analogue synths and wicked guitar licks. Have just bought the compilation this comes from.

@simonp Would that be the £22 triple LP from Norman's per chance?

@leslieplatt59 for once I've just gone straight for the download. Though, of course, if I find I need the proper sound, I may well buy it at a later date.
