Theme for this morning is a perfect slice of guitar pop: @ACNewman's "On the Table" (The Slow Wonder, 2004)

What I probably was listening to most this week...10 years ago. Neko Case led me, via her involvement in what became one of my favorite bands of recent years (The New Pornographers), to A.C. Newman, TNP's leader. Though he'd been around for awhile in indie rock, 2004's The Slow Wonder was his first solo album. Some of the tracks, like this, have the same qualities I enjoy most on TNP albums (and by the way, I'm eagerly awaiting the Pornos' new album coming later this summer). But overall, Newman's solo work is even more quirky (in a good way), offering up a pleasing variety of sounds. Check him out. (Album released June 8, 2004)
