It's another 4th of July, and as usual, I find myself somewhere between getting wibbly over the Star-Spangled Banner and despairing over the uselessness of -- or worse, the horrors perpetrated by -- my government. So my jam today is this stunning stripped-down cover of Joni Mitchell's excellent critique of the United States. God bless everybody, not just America.

Feels necessary. I wish I could hear this song FROM THE CIVIL WAR as though it's unrelated to the present.
