Of Aphex Twin's 'other' projects, AFX is by far the most listened to - it is an extension of his usual moniker, only with a focus on more acid-sounding IDM, and with a similarly large catalogue of music to his main. Hangable Auto Bulb came out in 1995 which is hard to believe given that the previous albums released under the same pseudonym just don't hold up production-wise to the modern ear, not in the way this one does; I see this as a predecessor to Come to Daddy, which is still a well circulated electronic release to this day.
Anyway, there's something that really clicks about the sweet melody and sampling in this track (which is in fact his mother) in a non-overbearingly emotive way - elements which would arise again in more widespread tracks like Flim and IZ-US and prove to be a mainstay of Richard's music.
