I know nothing about this band but this is one of many great pop songs on their debut LP. And yes , it is very reminiscent of ELO #digthatcompression

I first heard this song when I was drunk, and at that time it was literally one of the best songs I’d ever heard — and even a week on I still think it’s really good.
