Second year in university: I woke up one random morning and bought a bus ticket to Montreal. I left with nothing but the clothes on my back. This was the first song I listened to on the bus and it has always stuck with me. Sometimes, you just need to leave your bubble to find out what you really want.
this has always been my favourite Billy Joel song, but it also seems to perfectly describe my life as an ambitious but lost 23 year old. no other words can really capture it quite so well

Say what you want about Billy Joel, but listen to "The Stranger" album and tell me it's not a masterpiece.

...a chance for an extra song or two perhaps. I have liked this man for always. Nobody in song portrays the horror of the Vietnam War better than he does in Goodnight Saigon (https://youtu.be/Qjzjhl-QztE), but this is an equally sad, but beautiful song about getting older and still feeling useful. #hopeyoulikeit #timj
