This is a song from a soundtrack, kind of (you can look up the history of the Black Francis / Golem project on your own, I hope), but since its release, it's always popped into my head when things are falling apart. (It actually kicks off the film: the Golem is created to fend off disaster, but turns out to be the disaster that the stars predicted.) Its looping chords and off-kilter structure always remind me that this has happened before, and it'll happen again. So, as I work through some of my own bad news, I read that This Is My Jam is shutting down - a bummer, for sure, but not the end of the world. Their hard work and amazing community will be an inspiration long after they lock the doors. (And they're doing a great job of respectfully archiving everything - there's a lot to learn from their example.)
