Genuine Live 1966 is a ten disc bootleg that I've been playing throughout the week learning about Bob Dylan's 1966 world tour in which he and his band (The Hawks at the time, later they become The Band) weathered enormous contempt and protests over Dylan's perceived selling out to the commercial forces of rock and roll. Dylan would open these shows with an acoustic set of generally seven songs, then there would be a 15 minute break and upon return, Dylan and The Hawks would blast through a nine song electric set. This is the song that opened the second half of every live show they performed that year. This version hails from The Odeon in Liverpool on 14 May 1966.   3

Happy new year everyone. And in the spirit of starting things off with a bang, here's the very best start to an electrified pop group performance that can be achieved with terrestrial tools and current technologies. One, two, three... BLAM. That's my new year's resolution in a nutshell... I hope your own internal Hawks carry you all along in a similarly unstoppable manner throughout 2014. Pip pip!
