Just randomly popped into my head the other day. This song really intrigued me when I first heard it as a kid. What *did* they throw off the Tallahatchie Bridge?
This song became a cult classic made-for-television movie when Herman Raucher gave his own version detailing the reasons Billie Joe McAllister, played by Robby Benson, jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge.
