Carole King, rather like Jackie De Shannon and Ellie Greenwich, did some of her best sixties work on recordings that never saw the light of the day because they were demos for other artists to record. Before she became a solo artist, Carole King and Gerry Goffin had scores of huge hits as songwriters, including this one for the Monkees: a 1966 demo that I prefer.
