G'day boys & girls. Thought it was time for another word from the Schizoid cave, given the weather here in Scotlandshire being terribly sunny & jolly & my being able to roam free, amongst the purple heather and wild haggis. Now I like a nice toon. However, given the propensity for the music to blur the lyrics, I've oft found (even after many years/beers) that the actual words were rather different to my original understanding. Step forward Chicory Tip. As someone has pointed out elsewhere, the song tho' a pop gem, is lyrically, unfathomable. Indeed, something of a homage to the late Stanley Unwin (for those unfamiliar, this should assist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=323kQis2zbM ). Anyhoo, I sing the chorus as 'Son of my Father (easy bit) Boodlin' I was Boodlin' I was preprun dry'. No, I don't know what that means either, but it got me through the day. I have since seen the lyrics & though I'm not particularly close, I'm sticking with my version. So...what's your lyrical faux pas...
