100th & final jam: ‘Love's Gone Bad' by Chris Clark

liquidindian 25 Sep 2015

Sorry for the quick jam change, just realized it was #motownweek Although she hails from California, Chris Clark will always be associated with Detroit, where she signed with Motown Records and cut the soul classics "Do Right Baby Do Right," "Love's Gone Bad" and "I Want to Go Back There Again" for Motown's VIP subsidiary in the mid-sixties. Six feet tall with blue eyes and platinum blonde hair, she was the label's first Caucasian star, and when she toured England she was nicknamed "The White Negress." Despite her pale complexion, she's one of the most soulful artists on Motown, "Love's Gone Bad" taking its rightful place alongside Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love" in the desperate dance floor filler department.   6

More Motown. Love the vocals and groovy keyboard.
