After explaining to my 5 year-old that people are generally buried in the ground when they die, she surmised that heaven must therefore be under the ground. I told her that her beliefs align with the Ancient Greek concept of Hades, the underworld. This led to a retelling of the myth of Charon the boatman, which led to her introduction to this song. I love this parenting lark!

First heard this on a beach in Kardamena and it takes me nicely back there again every time
