8 years ago today Jean Charles de Menezes, was shot dead by the London police, misidentified as one of the terrorists connected with the July London bombings. Singer-songwriter Chris Wood tells the story in song.
Heard Chris Wood sing this live last night, for about the tenth time. It's still almost too powerful to sit through.
Today marks ten years since the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes, wrongly identified by the London police as one of the fugitives involved in the previous day's failed bombing attempts and two weeks after the London bombings of 7 July 2005, in which 52 people were murdered.
YouTube comment: "A young man walks out on a summer morning, as young men do in thousands of folk songs. Then it slowly dawns on the listener who this young man is and what he is walking towards........ And the song becomes relentless."

R.I.P Jean Charles de Menezes.
Meant to put this on last week, but have been poorly. Still feel it's important though;

This moving song gives me chills every time I listen. It relates the tragic killing of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was shot dead by the London police 9 years ago today, misidentified as one of the terrorists connected with the July London bombings. It is worth hearing in its entirety.
