Hot Talk by Chuck Prophet

cwparker’s jam on 19 Dec ’13 and then once after that (See all)

“My last jam was Chris Smither, a guy I've liked for years but only just seen for the first time. This is Chuck Prophet, who is at the other end of the spectrum - between Green On Red gigs and his appearances with The Mission Express or solo I've probably seen him live more than anyone else and I'm going again this coming Thursday. This is the brilliant Hot Talk from a gig at The Garage in Islington, North London. It was a brilliant gig which I was at and it's the venue next week (the third time he's played there). Can't wait. Chuck should be a mega-star, but in some ways I'm glad he's not. I'd rather see him at The Garage than in an Enormo-Dome. But he obviously doesn't get the reward he and the band deserve. Hope you like it.”

Chuck and the Mission Express should be huge, but seem destined to playing the smaller venues. This is from their gig at the Garage in Islington promoting Let Freedom Ring! in 2010. One of my favourite songs from that album is Hot Talk. I was at this gig and was pleased to find really good sound and visual quality film on YouTube. Includes the self deprecating line "What kind of name is Prophet anyway?"   3
