RIP Hal David
This is Cilla at her peak. A thrilling performance coaxed out by Burt Bacharach, in Studio One, Abbey Road in the autumn of 1965. The final version is take 19 - unprecedented at the time in the UK; a full orchestra at Musician's Union rates. The usual rule was one rehearsal, one take, and one for luck.

The amazing emotional genius of Burt Bacharach and hard but pure British sound of Cella Black, circa 1965, in the original recording at Abbey Studios.
