“Am reliably informed by my girlfriend that this used to be played as an intro to early Verve shows. Easy to see why with that doubled bass riff and Ashcroft-anticipating vocal delivery.”

A seminal song in rockitude This song rocks on Pump it up
eat that bass up with a spoon
Every now & then I'll hear a track & think..."How the f*ck did they write that?"
This one & 'Firestarter' by The Prodigy are two that immediately come to mind. Self penned by 70's teen idol & all round cheeky chappie David Essex, I've loved this homage to 50's Rock 'n Roll and recommend that you listen to it on headphones for the full effect.
