So after a couple listens and reading very mixed reviews ranging from "sucks ass" to "better than the original" I've decided that I like new Deltron a lot. The beats are exciting and original and the level of quality that one expects from a legend like Automator. The lyrics are characteristically dense and I'm sure will reveal themselves more completely with subsequent listens. One issue I have is the strange vocal EQ though; Del's voice doesn't match the richness of the rest of the production, it sounds almost like it was recorded on a laptop mic. It also lacks reverb, which makes it sound small in contrast to the orchestral beats. Obviously Automator knows how to mix vocals, so this distracting compositional choice is strange.
