This week’s memory track comes from Zara, whose grandmother had mild Alzheimer’s before she died.
Zara chose ‘Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)’ and said ‘My grandmother used to sing this song to me. She used to sing (or hum the tune) to me during certain stressful situations in my life. For example, before my exams, when I went to uni, and also whenever there was anything worrying me. She used to also say in Urdu 'Koi bat nahin', which means ‘it doesn't matter’ and then start humming away.
I will always associate this song with her. Later on, I used to hum the song to her as it did soothe and calm her whenever she got a little confused during the night.’
