#80sinApril, #Funkyfriday edition. Not a whole lot of funk in the 80s but thankfully EW&F; were still cranking out hits. This was number 33 on the Billboard Top 100 for 1982.
Fore! In the wake of the fallow period (previous post refers) myself & bestest pal, are casually posing in a West End hostelry. Up step two pretty young things, beginning their chat-up with, "we think you two are gay." Pints sputtered in several directions & denials accepted, we gaily..er, merrily chirped away for the rest of the evening. "Come to my flat for coffee" says my choose-ee & I being an unattached male with honorable intentions & lurve of java, agree. An hour into 'coffee' (which took an inordinate time to arrive) Joanne entertained me with an energetic, semi-clad solo dancing spectacular, of which this disc, featured. I'm thinking, "well, this is different", all the while presuming this to be an ancient caffeine fertility ritual. I go to the loo, spotting a few golf clubs in the hall. I return. "So, you're a golfer?" "Not me, my husband." I may have, but can't recall moving more quickly down a flight of steps to a taxi rank. I can't watch golf without feeling nervous...
