This song has a deeper meaning than one may think. The tempo is romantic, describing a love interest who skipped town, however Eric Church is continually haunted by the ghost of his love interest and the memory of everywhere they used to go. Opening in a funeral and going back reminisicing about the past. All he wants is his home town back. This is capturing the emotions of living in a small town and the scars that are given.
