A couple of years ago I edited a documentary about Pakistan called Without Shepherds. One of the people featured in a short scene was the Sufi singer, Farid Ayaz. His betel nut stained teeth, passionate voice and deep understanding of the mystical meaning of traditional Sufi music made a lasting impression on me. So I was happy to see that he recently teamed up with the people at Coke studios to release an old Sufi song with a twist—the traditional arrangement accompanied with contemporary, western instrumentation. Enjoy.
