This version here is live, performed when she was promoting her 2005 album of the same name. Whilst Fiona digs psychologically deep in her work, her musical technical skills have been finely honed from the start, in particular her mastery of fine vocal rhythms. In this song she shows her accomplished jazz stylings too, along with highly skilled command over her lyrics (she writes her own material). I chose this version because it has a lightness of performance that for me widens the expressive potential of the song. The album version can easily be found if you search for it. In fact, two versions will be found as this album was a long time in the pipeline and a version of it was leaked into the public sphere as an "unreleased" version. The official release naturally contains all the care you would expect to hear in a final mixed and mastered version. In the meantime, here's Fiona in 2005 doing a rather lovely live turn with a finely crafted song. Enjoy!
