#aWeekOfDisco Day 4 - Summer 1974 - for my birthday I got a white plastic Woolworths record player and two 45s - this and Neil Sedaka's Laughter In The Rain - guess you gotta start somewhere!   98

Guilty pleasure of the day: George McRae's proto-disco hit ,"Rock Your Baby." Now I know where Steve Harvey got his mustache.   1

George McCrae had one of the first hits of the disco era. Read all about it here: http://popdose.com/soul-serenade-george-mccrae-rock-your-baby/

No, disco did not *completely* suck. Unlike modern dance records, disco (at its best) was tight r&b; grooves played by *real* musicians on *real* instruments. And my favorite of those early disco hits *has* to be George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," which just does not let up an inch. This afternoon, for real, this IS my jam....
