“G is for Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five. Released on Sugar Hill Records as a single in the summer of 1982 (the first of July to be precise) this landmark record remains as pertinent today as it was 33 years ago (can you believe this song is that old). The Message has always reminded me of The Clash’s Combat Rock (which came out two months prior). Honestly, how out of place would this track have been on that album? That’s right, not very out of place at all.”
