The Work Song by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass
“A little Labor Day music. From #HerbAlpert & #TheTijuanaBrass' 1966 album, "SRO". By late 1966, it seemed as if every TV commercial and every pop arranger had latched onto the Herb Alpert "Ameriachi" sound. #TheWorkSong, (A&M 805) became a 1966 hit for the Tijuana Brass hitting #18 in August that year. Herb Alpert was proud of "The Work Song" and saw it as a continuation of his quest to improve and diversify the TJB sound. "'The Work Song' is actually a Jazz tune, Alpert elaborated to music critic Bob Thomas, "it was written by the brother of Cannonbal Adderly. Jazz is such a rich vein of musical expression that it should be put into form that is appreciated by the entire public, not just the jazz fancier." #LaborDayMusic Alt, Video: https://vibrato.herbalpertpresents.com/entries/work-song-music-video-1974/?from=latest”
