Found the cd with this in a pound emporium this week and I've listened to this song umpteen times since! A very underrated band.
I heard this for the first time in years at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall last Sunday when Roddy Woomble & Rod Jones played it at a #CelticConnections gig celebrating the music from 70s Laurel Canyon. They covered Neil Young and then played this tune which they had originally recorded in Los Angeles.
Everyone is nostalgic about britpop these days, but 20 years ago I wasn't aware yet of music - it was only in 97 that I discovered many of my favourite bands. The britpop wave I really lived is this one which included Idlewild and Travis (and, uh, Coldplay?), and nostalgia is hurting bad.
Turning 23 and this is the only song I can think of with the word "birthday" in it.
It's only the future that didn't last
The most underrated Scottish band ever.
