“What's James Brown Doing Here? Hot off a scene stealing turn in "The Blues Brothers" he again shows up to support his pal Dan Akroyd. Doctor Detroit is one of the strangest comedies I've ever seen, where Akroyd stars as a meek professor drafted to help save hookers by posing as the claw handed business partner of their pimp. It was not a hit, not by a long shot, but Akroyd brings this amazing, precise weirdness to his role . I love it when, in a non musical, a crowd breaks into an intricately choreographed dance routine. This is part of a short regular Friday feature I am calling "What's James Brown Doing Here?"”
