Saw "A Night with Janis Joplin" in New York. All the songs were fantastic, but this was the sing-along of the evening.

From her posthumous album 'Pearl', this cover illustrated the huge potential and diversity Janis might have achieved if only she had survived her drug addiction. 'Pearl' for me, is one of the most influential albums in contemporary American music as it laid a benchmark, not only for white blues but more importantly, established the rights for women to be pre-eminent in rock culture.   1
