What I probably was listening to most this week...10 years ago (Part 1). I bought a previous Jim White album but never really got into it...I don't know, maybe a bit too artsy for my taste. So I never bought 2004's Dig A Hole in That Substrate and Tell Me What You See. But I repeatedly listened to its lead track, which was available on a couple of sampler discs that came out around the time of the album's release. Aimee Mann's involvement made it irresistible for me. Reviewers reported that Dig A Hole... was a terrific album, so I think I'll give it a try. Meanwhile, this cut remains a favorite of mine a decade later -- and maybe it's fitting that almost exactly 10 years later, I'm getting another Aimee Mann fix through her new collaboration with Ted Leo, billing themselves as The Both. (Album released May 4, 2004)
