It was their rather dreadful moniker that drove me to hear what they sounded like and it was the pop hooks, the twin guitar sound and the vocals of Alanna McArdle (erm, Gruesome; they've all adopted the surname) that convinced me to stick around. Any song works as an entry into Weird Sister, their debut album, released last year
